“EMPTY LA”
personal project
When COVID-19 first hit Los Angeles, the entire city shut down overnight. It was unlike anything director AJ Bleyer had ever seen, so he immediately grabbed his camera and began capturing sunrises across the lifeless city.
For three weeks he woke up at 4:30am and drove to iconic spots across Los Angeles- from LAX to The Grove, from Hollywood Blvd to Venice Beach. What he ended up capturing was a rare moment in the city’s history, where the lifeless streets created an eerie quiet that swept across our usually crowded city.
